GABA is a neurotransmitter in the brain. It has been used for anxiety, panic disorders and stress. It can also be helpful for insomnia and has been found to lower blood pressure. GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain which promotes calm and prevents overactivity of the brain [1]. It appears to be beneficial in ADD, Attention Deficit Disorder. Limited studies have also shown modest effects on blood pressure, but this is not a significant use for the supplement [2].
