Ginkgo

Ginkgo biloba is one of the oldest living tree species, often called a "living fossil" with origins dating back over 200 million years. Native to China, it has been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years. The standardized leaf extract, particularly EGb 761®, contains flavonoid glycosides and terpenoids (ginkgolides and bilobalide) as its primary active constituents. These compounds contribute to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties. Ginkgo biloba improves cerebral and peripheral blood flow, modulates neurotransmitter systems, and exhibits antiplatelet effects. The extract has been extensively studied in modern clinical research, particularly for cognitive and vascular conditions [1,2,4,5].
