L-tyrosine

Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid, meaning that although it is critical for the formation of neurotransmitters and thyroid hormone production it can be synthesized in the body and does not need to come from the diet exclusively. Tyrosine is also an important building block of numerous proteins. Of critical import a key indication for the well documented use of tyrosine is in the inherited condition called PKU – phenylketonuria. It is also used for cognitive support. [Reference 1,2,3]
